The Australian opening batsman David Warner tried to pull off the same kind of stunt with Coca Cola bottles that Cristiano Ronaldo had pulled off during the Euros, but it didn’t exactly turn out the same way.

Cristiano Ronaldo, after one of Portugal games in Euro 2021, had come out to address the press and he took the Coca Cola bottles off the table, asking his fans to drink water rather than Coca Cola and it dramatically affected the stakes of Coca Cola because of the huge influence of Cristiano.

Coca Cola was one of the partners of UEFA and UEFA eventually had to release a statement clarifying their stand on the matter. However, what David Warner did was not quite like Cristiano because just as he took the bottles off, the media managers there quickly reminded Warner to put the bottles back on the table and he did that.

However, while putting the bottles back on, Warner cheekily said, “If it’s good enough for Cristiano, it’s good enough for me.”

Coca Cola is a beverage partner of ICC till 2023

Like UEFA, Coca Cola is in a beverage partnership with ICC as well and ICC representatives present there clearly didn’t want any controversy related to the matter, as it had happened at the time of the Euros.

David Warner was perhaps in a bit of a jolly mood as he had played a match-winning knock after quite a while and he wanted to have some fun before starting the press conference.

With a half-century against Sri Lanka last night, David Warner showed signs of getting back to his old rhythm which is great news for Australia because their bowling and middle-order have already looked in good form.

Australia has now won two out of their two games in the T20 World Cup 2021 and will now face their bitter rivals England in a high octane game this weekend.
