The upcoming edition of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is slated to be held entirely in India for the first time in history. The marquee tournament will be held in the October-November window.
It will be quite interesting to see which team will pass the hurdles, defy the challenges and win the tournament. England cricket team were the champions of the ICC ODI World Cup 2019.
The Three Lions defeated the Black Caps in the crucial encounter based on the boundary count rule. Team India were knocked out by New Zealand in the semi-finals of the competition.
The Men in Blue last won the ICC ODI World Cup in the 2011 edition, when India got the better of Sri Lanka in the final to win the second ODI World Cup.
Chennai or Delhi is likely to host India vs Pakistan in World Cup 2023
Earlier, reports and speculations were rife that Pakistan are not willing to travel to India for the World Cup event. This comes after BCCI expressed that India will not fly to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023.
In reality, if Pakistan fail to turn up for the World Cup, then they are bound to incur huge losses. As per recent sources, Pakistan won’t play in India and they want Sri Lanka or Bangladesh to host its matches.
Meanwhile, another source reported that Chennai or Delhi is expected to host India vs Pakistan in World Cup 2023. Both teams haven’t played a bilateral series since 2012 owing to political tensions between both nations.
In fact, India and Pakistan have been meeting each other only in the ICC and ACC events. In the Asia Cup 2022 tournament, India and Pakistan locked horns with each other on two occasions.
India won the group stage encounter against Pakistan whereas the Green Shirts defeated the Men in Blue in the Super 4 match. In the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, India beat Pakistan by four wickets in a last-ball thriller.

This itself proof that it should be in Chennai. Fanatics like these in Delhi can prove to be a security threat!
