The cash-rich Indian Premier League, also known as India’s premier T20 competition is unarguably the most-watched T20 competition across the world, without the shadow of any doubt.

Ever since it was launched in the year 2008, it has successfully completed fifteen seasons. Even though there were unexpected delays or postponements owing to the nationwide lockdown, the BCCI pulled off a masterclass by hosting the league in the United Arab Emirates.

The lucrative IPL has served as a perfect platform for the budding talents to showcase their mettle. Moreover, it has also helped the players earn a direct ticket to get into the Indian cricket team.

India didn’t win a single T20I World Cup since IPL started in India: Wasim Akram

Meanwhile, former Pakistani cricketer, Wasim Akram made a bold and straightforward opinion after India’s exit from the T20I World Cup 2022 in Australia. India were knocked out of the competition by England in Adelaide.

England cricket team secured an emphatic 10-wicket win over Team India and booked a place in the final. India last won this competition back in 2007 when they beat Pakistan in the final to win the maiden T20I World Cup in the inaugural edition.

However, since then, they failed to make a bid for the second honour. Wasim Akram is of the opinion that everyone thought that the introduction of IPL would largely benefit India to a great extent.

Needless to say, the bitter truth is that India haven’t won a T20I World Cup ever since the IPL kick-started in India. Rohit Sharma and Co collected 8 points from the Super 12 stage in this ongoing showpiece event.

However, they were unable to pull the trigger in the important semi-final clash against England as the bowlers showed no intent in their approach. Indian bowlers were on the back foot in the game as they failed to take even a single wicket in the game.
