According to an announcement made by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohammad Hasnain has been named Shaheen Shah Afridi‘s replacement for the 2022 Asia Cup. The right-handed fast bowler has picked up 17 wickets in his 18 Twenty20 International matches.

Due to an injury to his right ligament, Afridi, Pakistan’s premier bowler across all forms, will not be able to participate in the 2022 round of the Asia Cup. Additionally, the left-arm seamer will not be participating in the next T20 series against England.

A statement was made by the Chief Medical Officer of the PCB, Dr. Najeebullah Seemro, addressing Afridi as follows:

“I was able to have a conversation with Shaheen, and even though he is naturally distraught over the news, he is a courageous young man who has pledged to make a great comeback to serve his nation and team. Even though he has made headway during his recovery in Rotterdam, it is now abundantly evident that he will need more time. He is expected to resume playing competitive cricket in October.”

Mohammad Hasnain makes his comeback to the Pakistan Cricket Team

Hasnain, a pacer who is 22 years old and now competing in the Hundred competition for the Oval Invincibles in the United Kingdom, will go to UAE to join the team there. At the age of 21, the kid has taken five wickets in four games, but he has also given up runs at a rate of 11.45 per over.

It is important to point out that the young player’s bowling action garnered a great deal of attention when he was playing for the Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League (BBL) in the month of January 2022. As a consequence of this, he risked losing his ability to bowl in international cricket the following month.

On January 21st, 2022, he was subjected to tests at the Lahore University of Management Sciences, which is an ICC-accredited testing facility. During the tests, it was determined that his bowling motion was improper. In the end, in June of this year, he was given the all-clear to resume bowling.
