Chennai Super Kings

It remains unclear if MS Dhoni will continue playing the IPL. If he is to part ways with the franchise, the Super Kings will be looking for an experienced captain in the market. Having led SRH to glory in 2016, Warner is not shy of leading the team to glory.

He is a stalwart of the game and knows the IPL in and out. Moreover, it is possible that the franchise parts ways with Suresh Raina. In that case, Chennai could be looking for a left-hander for their top order. Only a few can hit the ball as good as David Warner in the powerplay. Warner to Chennai could be the one to watch.

Lucknow

The Lucknow outfit owned by the RPSG Ventures is one of the many teams which will go in for Warner. The new teams have an option to pick three players from the player draft. It is an added advantage to the new outfits that they have David Warner at their disposal. “We have some unfinished business in the league,” said RPSG Ventures Ltd. owner Sanjiv Goenka.

His team Rising Pune Supergiant reached the finals of the 2017 edition of the IPL. They missed out on the title and lost to Mumbai Indians in the final. It was an Australian player who had almost led them to glory in 2017. It could be highly possible that they build the team around another Australian in David Warner.

Ahmedabad

The franchise from Ahmedabad was purchased by Irelia Company Pte Ltd. (CVC Capital Partners) for INR 5625 Crores. They are the former owners of Formula One and will be looking to establish a brand image in the Indian Market.

David Warner is loved by many in the country and could be the perfect player that suits the on-field and off-field agendas of the franchise. Ahmedabad’s owners could certainly target David Warner in the 2022 auction.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

The franchise for Bangalore has had a run of 13 seasons without a trophy. With a star-studded line-up, adding Warner would only be beneficial. It has been officially announced that Virat Kohli will be stepping down from his captaincy role from the 2022 season.

Giving the captaincy role to Warner, with the likes of Virat Kohli in the mix, could prove to be the recipe for winning the title for the RCB.

Punjab Kings

The Punjab Kings have had little luck when it comes to the Indian Premier League. The last time they qualified for the knockout stages was way back in 2014. However, in 2018, the franchise showed signs of a comeback after a good auction.

The likes of Chris Gayle, Ravi Ashwin, KL Rahul were bought to bring life to the franchise. The season only ended in disappointment. In 2021, they will have another chance of rebuilding and would hope to add the ever-present David Warner to the squad. With Gayle turning 43 next year, it would be ideal to find his replacement. The explosive left-handed opening batsman in David Warner could be the perfect answer.
