The Tamil Nadu batsman Shahrukh Khan has been the talk of the town in the ongoing Indian domestic season. After his performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare trophy, there were already talks that he might be given a chance to play for India soon, but now Shahrukh has scored a hundred in the Ranji trophy as well and that too at a strike rate of more than a run a ball, which is not really a norm in red-ball cricket.
When Shahrukh Khan came out to bat today against a decent bowling attack of Delhi, Tamil Nadu were not really in a great position as they had lost 5 wickets for just 162 runs and the match stood at a stage where Tamil Nadu might have conceded a follow-on with a couple of more wickets at that stage.
But, Shahrukh didn’t just make sure his team didn’t lose any further wickets from there, he counter-attacked Delhi bowlers as well and played as freely as he plays in limited over cricket. Any opportunity that was offered by Delhi bowlers to score boundaries, it wasn’t let go by Shahrukh, as he didn’t show any hesitation in playing the ball in the air and hit it out of the ground.
CSK and Punjab Kings had a fierce bidding war for Shahrukh Khan in IPL mega auction
Recently in the IPL mega auction, there was a fierce bidding war for Shahrukh with CSK and Punjab Kings both going for him, but eventually, CSK had to pull out and the Kings were able to buy Shahrukh at a very high price of 9 crore INR.
After the way Shahrukh played today in the Ranji trophy, the CSK fans on Twitter were of the opinion that the management should have perhaps continued with the bidding for a bit more and shouldn’t have withdrawn at 9 crores. However, the problem with CSK was that they had to buy a lot of others players as well, and they didn’t have a lot of money left in the purse.
