The first Test match between the Pakistan cricket team and the New Zealand cricket team ended in a draw National Stadium, Karachi as bad light stopped the passage of play on Day 5.

Both teams gave it all in the contest in a bid to win. In fact, New Zealand were cruising towards the win after having started the game with a blistering pace. However, the on-field umpire, Aleem Dar decided that play was not possible due to poor light.

Talking about the second Test match, New Zealand skipper Tim Southee won the toss and chose to bat first. The Black Caps posted 449 runs in the first innings. Devon Conway continued his rich form in Test cricket with 122 runs including 16 fours and a six.

In response, Pakistan posted 408 runs at the expense of all the ten wickets. Saud Shakeel led the batting attack by example as he chipped in with an unbeaten 125 runs including 17 boundaries.

Karachi Test between New Zealand and Pakistan ends in a draw

As far as the second innings are concerned, New Zealand aggregated 277/5 and then declared the innings, thus setting up a target of 319 for the hosts. Babar Azam and Co did respond pretty well in the run-chase where they showcased incredible resistance throughout the final day.

New Zealand bowlers tried their maximum best to take wickets. They even succeeded in taking nine wickets but were unable to take the final wicket as the bad light stopped play on the final day.

It was a huge relief for the Pakistan cricket team as they were on the verge of suffering a defeat. However, they got lucky as the light didn’t favour them in the finishing overs when they required 15 runs off 3 overs.

The first two games of the Test series ended in a draw. Meanwhile, both teams will be gearing up for the three-match One-Day International series, with the first ODI slated to be played on January 9 at National Stadium, Karachi.
