Punjab Kings’ bowlers had a surreal nightmare while bowling to Lucknow Super Giants’ batters during the 38th match of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali.
Batting first, Lucknow Super Giants launched a breathtaking counter-attack which blew Punjab Kings’ bowlers apart during the passage of play. Lucknow Super Giants went on to post the second-highest total in the history of the IPL.
They came a bit too close to RCB’s highest-ever total of 263. In the end, LSG posted 257/5 in their quota of 20 overs. PBKS bowlers remained clueless more often than not as they kept leaking runs time and time again.
Arshdeep Singh and Kagiso Rabada conceded 54 and 52 runs respectively in their quota of four overs. Marcus Stoinis top-scored with 72 whereas Kyle Mayers scored 54 runs.
Lucknow Super Giants beat Punjab Kings by 56 runs
In response to Lucknow Super Giants’ target, Punjab Kings lost a couple of wickets inside the powerplay overs. Although they found a decent bit of support in the form of Atharva Taide, he was dismissed after scoring 66 off 36 balls (8 fours, 2 sixes).
Apart from him, other batters didn’t quite capitalize on the starts. Lucknow Super Giants’ bowlers restricted Punjab Kings to 201 in 19.5 overs. KL Rahul and Co won the game by 56 runs.
With this win, Lucknow Super Giants have climbed to the second spot with 10 points (5 wins and 3 defeats). On the other hand, Punjab Kings are sixth on the table with four wins and four defeats, collecting eight points.
