3 RCB strategies that failed in IPL 2024

Royal Challengers Bangalore are struggling in IPL 2024. While some of the players are yet to step up, it is also the case of the management not being on point with some of their tactics. This has affected the play on the field. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three RCB strategies that failed in IPL 2024.

1) Stubborn Use of the Impact Player Rule

Till now, RCB has been extremely stubborn with their use of this rule. They have used V Vyshak or Mahipal Lomror mainly in this role. Instead, these two must have been in the starting XI.

RCB is not trying to experiment much with the rule. They are trying to stick with their failed strategies and this is not helping the squad.

2) No Lead Spinner

At the auctions, RCB did not sign a single spinner. They had also released their main spinner before the auctions. Hence, RCB came into IPL 2024 without a single lead spinner. Glenn Maxwell was the most experienced in this regard.

Mayank Dagar has been inconsistent and that is natural with his experience. Karn Sharma has also not played much. Overall, this is denying the team to have some variety in the middle overs.

3) Not opening the bowling with Siraj in the recent games

Not opening the bowling with Siraj in the recent games is one of the RCB strategies that failed in IPL 2024. In the recent matches, RCB has opened the bowling with Reece Topley and Yash Dayal. It needs to be noted that Siraj is one of the best new-ball bowlers in the game right now.

Usually, Siraj picks up his confidence while extracting movement from the new ball. With that missing, he is failing to do well for the team. On the other hand, RCB did not require Reece Topley because it was in the middle and the end-overs that they really needed an overseas pacer.
