The Border Gavaskar Trophy series between India and Australia is just a few days away from getting underway. The first of the four-match Test series will begin on February 9, Thursday at VCA Stadium in Nagpur.
Meanwhile, the players of both teams have been constantly hitting the nets to get geared up for the intriguing series, which promises to have plenty of exciting, thrilling and intriguing things in store for the fans.
Australia are on top of the ICC World Test Championship points table whereas Team India are second on the table. The fact that the Aussies lost just one game in the second cycle goes to show their unreal dominance.
It remains to be seen which team will come out on top in the upcoming Test series. Aussies have long been criticized for their inability to produce a spark in the Test series in India.
Mahela Jayawardene backs Australia to win the Test series against India
Meanwhile, former Sri Lankan cricketer, Mahela Jayawardene has backed Australia to win the Border Gavaskar Trophy series by 2-1 against Team India. The last time when Australia won the Test series against India in India was in 2004.
However, after that, it has been a hostile atmosphere for the Aussies to get a proper result in India. On the other hand, Team India have well and truly dominated the Aussies in Test cricket for a long time now.
During Australia’s tour of India in 2017, Australia lost the Test series by 2-1. In the subsequent year, India travelled all the way to Australia and scripted history by beating Australia in their own den, as India won their first-ever Test series against Australia in Australia.
During India’s tour of Australia in 2020-21, India went on to win yet another Test series against Australia in Australia, thus scripting a second consecutive Test series win on Australian soil.
ill be surprised if they win a single match, 4-0 with an innings defeat imo https://t.co/oIu44xHep4

I'm not sure if Australia will be able to pull off a win against India, but I'm sure Mahela Jayawardene knows what he's talking about!

He is saying this because it's the only way for SL to qualify for WTC.

As usual, the whole world has an opinion on Indian cricket at all times. In the good old days, the whole world had an opinion on English cricket since County cricket was a popular breadwinner. Now, the IPL has ensured India becomes the cynosure.

Yes When India toured Australia all the cricket pundit's predicted Aussies gone win by 3-1 some said 4-0 but later it proven out 2-1 for India. So claiming is Easy & beating India in India is tuffer. So what Mahela thinks has zero impact .

Why are people behaving like the tournament isn't going to be one sided to India?

Though I respect Mahela’s judgement ,still I believe there will no draw in this series .Kohli and gill scoring heavily.

Obviously, two-three of our best players(in form) are missing and most of Australians are in form plus they have couple of run machines… So, if d wickets r reasonable then it's going to be a big challenge for Team India…

Maybe because srilanka have an outside chance if thst happens, but i don't think srilanka themselves will do well in nz.

I kind of agree with what he said , Australians are well prepared and don’t carry baggage of any player when selecting , unless Indians
