Pakistan national cricket team have always been a nation that has performed well in the truncated version of the game without any doubts. They have been on top of the ICC rankings in the shortest format.
However, they faced setbacks when it comes to the ICC events. They lost to Australia in the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in the United Arab Emirates. Babar Azam and Co made it to the finals in ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
However, the Green Shirts surrendered at the hands of the Jos Buttler-led England cricket team in the final showdown. Currently, the Pakistan cricket team are third on the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings.
They still have plenty of work to do to get back on track and it remains to be seen whether or not how they approach the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
Shahid Afridi makes a bold statement on the strike rate of Pakistan players in domestic cricket
Meanwhile, former Pakistan cricketer, Shahid Afridi made a bold statement on the strike rate of Pakistani cricketers in domestic cricket. The former cricketer added that no batsman will be selected in the shortest format for Pakistan who doesn’t boast a pretty good strike in domestic cricket.
He echoed that the batsman who doesn’t have a strike rate of more than 135 in domestic cricket will not be selected in T20Is for the Pakistan cricket team.
Pakistan players’ strike rate have also deteriorated over the years in the shortest format and it is something that the players will have to work their socks off to get better in this format.
As far as the Men’s T20I Rankings are concerned, two players are featured in the top 10. They are none other than Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam. While Rizwan is second on the rankings, Babar is placed fourth on the rankings.
Then Babar and Rizwan should be thrown out first. https://t.co/d3rtCxfnkt
