Pakistan cricket team’s performance with regard to the longest format of the game has deteriorated over the years, which is a bitter reality. Their overall performances haven’t been compelling either.
No matter how hard they try, they couldn’t find a way to channelise the aggression in the right direction. Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has been consistent but not his teammates and which is why they have been failing as a team.
Moreover, they finished fifth on the WTC points table (2019 to 2021) as they won four games, lost five games and played out for a draw on three occasions, aggregating 286 points from 12 matches.
After failing to qualify for the WTC final in the first cycle, they also failed to qualify for the WTC final in the second cycle as well. For the first time in history, Pakistan lost four Tests in a row at home.
Pakistan cricket team slip to No.7 in the WTC Points Table
Earlier, Babar Azam and Co lost to Australia in the three-match Test series. While the first two games ended in a draw, Pakistan lost to Australia in the third and final Test, thus losing the series by 1-0.
Pakistan cricket team hosted England for three-match Test series and things didn’t really turn out well for the hosts. England cricket team inflicted a 3-0 whitewash on the Pakistan cricket team as the hosts suffered their first-ever whitewash at home.
Pakistan cricket team slipped to the seventh spot in the World Test Championship points table. Having played 11 games so far, they have managed to win only four games, losing five and playing out for a draw twice.
Babar Azam and Co collected only 56 points from the second WTC cycle so far. Earlier, England won the first Test by 74 runs and followed it up with a 26-run win in the second Test. The visitors completed a clean sweep over Pakistan by beating Pakistan by 8 wickets in the third Test.
