Rajasthan Royals locked horns with Punjab Kings in the 66th match of the IPL 2023 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala.

The Royals were tasked to complete the run-chase in 18.3 overs to finish the league stage with a better Net Run Rate compared to Royal Challengers Bangalore.

However, as it turned out, Punjab Kings have done a bit of favour to Royal Challengers Bangalore by keeping the RR batters silent at the fag end of the overs. Although the Royals managed to cross the victory line, they were just not quite able to get the job done quickly.

As a result, they are still in fifth place in the table with 14 points, having played all 14 games this season. The Royals have won the seven games and lost the rest of the seven games in the league stage.

Rajasthan Royals managed to win the game but in a disappointing manner as they aced the run-chase with two balls to spare when they were supposed to be finishing off the game in 18.3 overs for a better NRR.

Despite their unsatisfied win over Punjab Kings in Dharamsala, the Royals still keep their playoff hopes alive. Currently, they are the fifth on the table just below the fourth-placed Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Both teams are tied on 14 points but RCB are fourth with a better NRR. Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals will be expecting Gujarat Titans to do a big favor for them. The Royals will be pinning their hopes on GT.

If Gujarat Titans manage to pull off a win over RCB in the next game, RCB’s NRR would drop considerably, which would mean that the Royals would sneak into the playoff. RCB will be eliminated if they lose by more than five runs against GT. At the same time, the Royals will also have to expect SRH to beat Mumbai Indians.
