Rajasthan Royals defeated Delhi Capitals by 15 runs to go top of the points table on Friday. While it was an exciting game, in the last over of the match, there was an unexpected event that occurred. This incident led to a delay in the game and has also become a controversy. In this article, we take a look at how Twitter reacted to the last-over drama in the game between Rajasthan and Delhi in IPL 2022.
Last-over drama in the game between Rajasthan and Delhi
Prasidh Krishna bowled a good 19th over to bring the equation to 36 runs of the last over for the Delhi Capitals. While many had lost hopes on Delhi, Rovman Powell fuelled it when he scored three consecutive sixes. However, the third ball of the over was a full toss and it was very close to being a waist-high no-ball. The umpires, though, surprisingly did not refer the delivery and went on to continue the game.
The Delhi Capitals camp was visibly unhappy with the decision. Rishabh Pant took the matters into his own hands and started calling back his players. The umpires reacted to it and there were a few ugly minutes on the field. Pravin Amre event went inside the field and had a word with the umpires. Eventually, the delivery was not given a no-ball and the game continued. DC could not sustain the momentum and they lost the encounter.

Even if I feel that wasn't a no ball Why wouldn't you check the no ball with the third umpire??? Unnecessarily adamant umpiring. #DCvRR #IPL

this is a biggest game and most successful game in India IPL 2022how could the umpire be so sure about that not being a no ball. Umpire’s ego should not be bigger than the game. Third umpire should have stepped in. There is worst umipiring by Indian umpires @JayShah @BCCI @IPL

The officials have repeatedly gone to the third umpire when it has been a 50-50 call for waist high no-ball, then why not today? In such a crucial moment? Is CONSISTENCY in decision making too much to ask for? #IPL2022 #DCvRR

Pant may have been a bit cranky but there was no reason for the umpire to not refer it for no ball.. specially, in final over and a tight match..

This is just absolute disgrace. Rishabh Pant should be banned for atleast 3 matches for this behaviour. He needs to be taught a lesson. It's not gully cricket.

Umpire was high
.why is a third umpire for?Is there a penalty for umpire? No doubt RR deserved to win, but cant umpire check high no ball. They check front foot no ball many times.give a fair chance. Why is this technology for?Advertisement— Pankaj Losan Sharma (@PankajdFlower) April 22, 2022
It was a clear no ball. You can't predict what will happen next. Having a no ball would have got extra ball. What they did is not wrong. Stop criticising rishabh, he was doing it for a team. I would have applauded if sanju came and asked umpire to check with third umpire atleast

Isn't it a No Ball?
If field umpire can't see this, so what's the role of third umpire? #DCvRR #RRvsDC #TATAIPL2022 pic.twitter.com/wETeU1Jv6HAdvertisement— Abhishek anand (@Abhishe49482787) April 22, 2022

Third umpire can only interfere when the on field umpire asks them , Or it’s a over stepping no ball.
