Although he had the skill and prowess in his repertoire, nobody really expected him to claim the numero uno spot in the ICC Men’s ODI bowler rankings. Siraj claimed the top spot in the wake of stellar bowling performances against the Sri Lankan cricket team and the New Zealand cricket team respectively.

Siraj played the first two ODIs against New Zealand before he was finally rested for the dead rubber. The right-arm paceman has been a standout bowler for Team India in One-Day Internationals.

During the second ODI against New Zealand, he took one wicket to his name. Overall, he finished the series with five wickets in two games. Team India won the ODI series by 3-0 against the Black Caps.
