Fans on Twitter hilariously reacted after left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc was dropped from the Australian XI for the game against Afghanistan in the T20 World Cup 2022. They took a jibe at him and said that he missed IPL just to get dropped from the national side.

Mitchell Starc dropped from the game against Afghanistan 

Australia and Afghanistan clashed in their last league game on Friday (4th November) in Adelaide. It was a crucial game for the hosts in the context of the qualification for the semi-final. Although they won the game their fate now lies in the hands of Sri Lanka.

However, what surprised many was Australia’s decision to drop Mitchell Starc for the game against Afghanistan. The defending champions left the pacer out of the team and played Kane Richardson in their place of him.

Their decision invited a huge debate with many fans and pundits lashing out at the team management for dropping Mitchell Starc. His absence was quite visible as Afghanistan batters put Australia on the back foot and gave them a real scare.

Richardson, who was brought in as a replacement for Starc, in particular, struggled as the batters took him to the cleaners. He conceded 48 runs in his 4 overs and took one wicket but his expensive spell was one of the main reasons behind Australia being on the back foot.

Starc notably, didn’t have the tournament as he would’ve wanted. The left-arm pacer could manage to pick up only 3 wickets in the tournament so far. Also, Starc doesn’t play in the franchise T20 league to keep him fit for the national side.
