Chetan Sakariya grabbed the headlines last year when he picked up some big wickets in his debut IPL season. Playing for the Rajasthan Royals, the Saurashtra pacer took important wickets. Soon after, he broke into the Indian team and played for the country in the series against the Sri Lankan cricket team.
Surprisingly though the Rajasthan Royals decided against retaining Chetan Sakariya for IPL 2022. They let him go ahead of the mega auction, where the Delhi Capitals acquired his services. Sakariya will now bowl alongside the likes of Anrich Nortje, Shardul Thakur and K Khaleel Ahmed in IPL 2022.
Last year, Sakariya picked up the big wicket of MS Dhoni during a match between the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals. Now, he wants to take the wicket of Virat Kohli. In case you didn’t know, Sakariya was once a net bowler for the Royal Challengers Bangalore team.
At that time, he bowled to the likes of AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli in the training nets. Sakariya stated that it was difficult to bowl to de Villiers in the net sessions. He wanted to take his wicket as well, but the South African star has now retired.
Chetan Sakariya has set a big target for him ahead of IPL 2022
In an interview with cricket.com ahead of IPL 2022, Chetan Sakariya named the one batter he wants to dismiss in the IPL 2022 season. Here’s what he said:
“I bowled to de Villiers in the nets as well in the match. But now that he has retired I will not be able to get a chance to dismiss him. So Virat bhai is the one batsman I’d like to dismiss in IPL 2022.”
The Delhi Capitals will battle the Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 16. It will be interesting to see if Sakariya can take Kohli’s wicket.
