Be it green top or a rank turner, the batters clearly struggled to dictate the terms against the bowlers in the recent past fixtures in the longest format of the game.
Talking specifically about the conditions in India, the spinners have weaved the magic with the ball by taking most of the wickets. In fact, the spinners have enjoyed bowling on rank-turners and it has helped them extract plenty of positives from the surface.
The likes of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin performed pretty well for India in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy series. On the other hand, Australia largely benefitted from Nathan Lyon, Todd Murphy and Matthew Kuhnemann so far in the series.
Pitches all over the world have become challenging for batters: Rahul Dravid
The way things panned out in the third Test between India and Australia triggered the critics to talk more about the pitch. The fact that 26 out of the 31 wickets fell to spinners goes to show that there was no balance between pace and spin.
Apart from that, four of the wickets fell to pacers whereas the remaining one was a run-out. After the game, the ICC termed the Indore pitch “poor”. Amid all the talks about the pitches of late, Team India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid had his say on the matter as well.
According to the coach, pitches all over the world have become quite challenging for batsmen, in particular. Earlier, we would see batters scoring centuries quite often in Test cricket. However, things have slowly started to change as the bowlers have kept batters in check more often than not.
Talking about the Border Gavaskar Trophy series, India won the first two games and took a 2-0 lead in the series. While things were moving smoothly for India, Australia produced a stunning result in the third Test in Indore as they won the game by nine wickets.
The fourth and final Test will kick off on March 9 (Thursday) at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

That is simply not true, but I can understand why Dravid would say such a thing at the moment, with all the pitch criticisms etc.
AdvertisementBasic pitches profile across the world has remained same. There might be an odd case out, but Its only in India where our pitches are falling apart.
