India are currently leading the series by 2-1 with one more game to be played. Following the BGT series, India will lock horns with the Australian cricket team in the three-match ODI series.

In what comes as a big blow to Australia, paceman Jhye Richardson has been ruled out of the ODI series against India. The right-arm fast bowler reportedly picked up an untimely hamstring injury and which is precisely the reason why he will not be able to take part in the ODI series against Team India.

As a result, it may also prevent him from featuring for Mumbai Indians in the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League. The 26-year-old right-arm fast bowler will be missing the Marsh Cup final between Western Australia and South Australia, which will be held on March 10 (Friday).

The right-arm fast bowler is said to have aggravated his hamstring injury, which he ran through during the 2022-23 Big Bash League campaign. Meanwhile, Cricket Australia has yet to name a replacement for Jhye Richardson for the three-match ODI series against the Indian cricket team.

For the record, Richardson was roped in by the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League mini-auction in Kochi in late December. As things stand, he will be giving the marquee tournament a miss.

The Western Australia paceman who didn’t play international cricket for Australia since June 2022 was purchased by Mumbai Indians for Rs 1.5 crore at the IPL 2023 auction. The fast bowler has played only three games in the IPL so far in his career wherein he took three wickets to his name.
