“Brave call”, Twitter reacts as England has declared and Pakistan needs 343 runs with 4 sessions left in the Test

The so called dead test match between England and Pakistan that is currently going on at the Rawalpindi stadium has suddenly turned interesting after a very brace call by English captain Ben Stokes. We had all expected that the match will be drawn between the two teams looking at the condition of the pitch and the way the match was being played by the two sides but it looks like the English side were hungry for a win. Out of nowhere, England have declared their second innings with 4 sessions left in the Test at a lead of 343 runs. This is a big risk as England can end up losing it from here but it seems like Captain Ben Stokes is ready to take that chance.

The Rawalpindi pitch is totally dead. It has got nothing for the bowlers at all. It has no pace, turn or bounce and the batters are scoring runs here without any difficulty at all. It is for this reason that England scored as many as 657 runs in their first innings with 4 centurions. Pakistan fell a little short in their first innings as they scored 579 runs but that gives us an idea about this pitch.

Coming in to bat in their second innings, England looked in a hurry right from the beginning and now we know why. They declared after scoring 264/7 with a lead of 343 and Pakistan now have 4 sessions to chase that down. It looks like Ben Stokes is confident that they can actually try for victory in this match as otherwise he wouldn’t have taken this big risk.

It is obviously a risk because this Rawalpindi pitch is totally for the batters and chasing 343 runs in 4 sessions is not a big deal here. Afterall, England made 504 runs on the same pitch on day 1.
