India’s veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been actively part of the Test set-up for several years now. Earlier, he was playing across all three formats of the game but fell out of favour with the selectors in ODI and T20I set-up.
However, the Indian selection committee went with Ravichandran Ashwin in the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Meanwhile, the experienced campaigner is currently part of the ongoing Test series against the Bangladesh cricket team.
When the team required someone to step up and deliver the goods from lower down the order, it was Ravichandran Ashwin who played a sensible brand of cricket alongside his partner Kuldeep Yadav.
The duo added a 92-run stand for the eighth wicket before Ravi Ashwin departed after scoring a well-made 58 including two fours and as many sixes, in what was his 13th half-century in the longest format of the game.
Dinesh Karthik showers praise on Ravichandran Ashwin
India’s veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik reserved the highest respect for his veteran bowling all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin after the second day’s play of the first Test in Chattogram.
Dinesh Karthik highlighted that Ravichandran Ashwin is a scientist in cricket and that he always finds a way to effectively maximize his potential. Karthik’s comments come after Ravi Ashwin led the batting attack lower down the order.
Ravichandran Ashwin remained wicketless on the second day but will be looking forward to giving his best shot tomorrow or in the second innings. Ashwin was batting so well and was trying to play a big shot off Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
When he stepped down the track, he was beaten all ends up as the wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan had all the time to affect a stumping. India scored 404 runs in the first innings and in response, Bangladesh finished with 133/8 on Day 2, with Mehidy Hasan and Ebadot Hossain batting on 16 and 13.
