Mankading is a legal way of dismissing the non-striker when the latter tries to back up from the crease. When a non-striker backs up from the crease, then the bowler has every right to warn the batter or even whip the bails off in the first place.

Over the years, non-strikers have often got an unfair advantage as it helped them get the extra run. However, on the other hand, the bowlers are the ones who have been on the receiving end.

In the last few years, the cricket fraternity has witnessed some Mankading dismissals. While some were totally in favour of the dismissal, others were not really in favour of this dismissal.

When the bowler’s foot is not behind the crease, it is adjudged a no-ball, then it is also imperative for the non-striker to remain at the crease until the bowler reaches the release point or completes the bowling action.
