Salman Butt, who used to be the captain of Pakistan, has criticized the current team for not giving young players enough chances and not getting them ready for the big tournaments. Pakistan lost to Sri Lanka by 23 runs in the Asia Cup final because they lost their last eight wickets for only 54 runs.
Butt says that Pakistan’s middle order needs to be changed, but he also says that the team doesn’t have a lot of options on the bench. He asked the team’s leaders why they didn’t add more players to the talent pool since they didn’t switch up the team whenever they could.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel on Tuesday, Salman Butt said the following about Pakistan’s problems in the middle order:
“I told them three years ago that with this kind of system, they would start looking for good players and wouldn’t be able to find any. This management didn’t give young players a chance to learn by playing with more experienced ones, so the replacements they have now are very young and inexperienced.”
Salman Butt was also unhappy with the questions that Pakistan’s head coach, Saqlain Mushtaq, was asked after the final loss. He thinks the questions could have been about some of the strange things the think tank has done.
Salman Butt said this about this:Â “I don’t know why they (the reporters) didn’t ask the right questions to the coach. Why didn’t Nawaz come to bat at the same position after his knock against India? If Shadab is playing well, how do you send Asif Ali and Khushdil ahead of him? If Naseem Shah is expensive at the end, why don’t you bowl all of his overs up front? You talk about winning the toss, winning the game, but who won the Asia Cup?”
