Australia and New Zealand are taking each other in the three-match ODI series. The hosts displayed a staggering performance in the first game and took a 1-0 lead in the series. Both teams locked horns in the second ODI at the Cazaly’s Stadium in Cairns, Queensland on Thursday (8th September)
Glenn Maxwell reacts hilariously after Paul Wilson takes back wide call
New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and forced Australia to bat in what was a difficult pitch to bat. The hosts struggled with the bat and could register only 195 runs with Steve Smith top-scoring with 61 runs.
Glenn Maxwell also tried his best but could manage on 25 runs. Although he failed to set the stage on fire with his batting heroics, he made sure that he entertain fans as his hilarious reaction left many in splits.
It was during the 32nd over of Australia’s innings when New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham bowled a length delivery, that angled down the leg side and made slight contact with Maxwell’s thigh pads on the way to the keeper.
Umpire Paul Wilson was about to raise his arms and single wide but Neesham appealed loudly and changed his mind. Maxwell then reacted hilariously and he heard saying to the umpire: “Don’t get sucked in by Neesh.”

Adam Zampa shines with the ball as Australia take a unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series
After Australia posted a total of 195 runs, it was expected that New Zealand would chase the target easily but the class of the Aussies’ bowlers was too much for the Kiwis to handle as they were bundled out for just 82 runs.

Mitchell Starc started the proceedings for his side as he removed Martin Guptill in the first over and then also went on to remove Micheal Bracewell. Sean Abott also took 2 wickets but was the star of the innings by Adam Zampa. The leg-spinner took his maiden five-wicket haul in the ODIs and returned with the figures of 5/35 to win the game for his side.
