Duleep Trophy 2024 will have four squads competing against each other. The teams will be selected by Ajit Agarkar and his team. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of eight likely openers for each team in the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024.

1) Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill is India’s No.3 in Tests at the moment. However, in recent months, he has had trouble facing the moving ball. Hence, to challenge and test himself, it would be a good idea to open the batting.

2) Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw is one of the likely openers for each team in the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024. In England, Shaw is doing well in the ODI format. For him, a strong show in this tournament could open doors to Team India again.

3) Yashasvi Jaiswal

Of course, along with Rohit Sharma, he is India’s No.1 choice at the top of the order. The Duleep Trophy will be a good practice for him ahead of a challenging season.

4) B Sai Sudharsan

B Sai Sudharsan could be groomed to become a Test player in the future. He has been opening the batting for Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy. Hence, he can do the job here, as well.

He has been on the sidelines for a while now. However, the Bengal opener is yet to break the door. It could be another chance for him to get a spot in the playing XI.

7) Mayank Agarwal

At the Ranji Level, Mayank Agarwal has still been doing well. Hence, he deserves the opportunity. Especially since his game against spin is good, he could be a decent choice as a backup.

Padikkal is also one of the likely openers for each team in the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024. He made his Test debut for Team India in the middle-order. However, he is a genuine opener and importantly, India could test a left-handed opener.
