In one of the biggest moves, Sunrisers Hyderabad has parted ways with Kane Williamson. The Kiwi was retained ahead of IPL 2022 Mega Auctions. He was named the skipper of the squad, too. However, the player could not deliver with the bat and at the same time, the franchise did not do well. In recent months, as well, Kane has not been in great form. Hence, it was not a big surprise that he was released by the franchise. SRH will now have to look for a new skipper. On that note, here, we take a look at three players who could be the next captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad.

1) Bhuvneshwar Kumar

In the absence of Kane Williamson, Bhuvi was the skipper of SRH last season. Hence, he must be the natural choice to replace the Kiwi. So far, the pacer has led SRH in a total of seven encounters.

Considering the player’s injury record and current form, SRH may not take that risk. Also, with the abundance of domestic talent in the squad, it might not be a surprise if Bhuvi is not part of the XI for a few games.

2) Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal is one of the players who could be the next captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad. With the highest purse for the auctions, SRH can exert a monopoly at the bidding event. Hence, they are the favourites to land Mayank Agarwal.

The former Punjab Kings skipper could actually be a good choice for the franchise. While he would cement his spot as the opener, he would also be a domestic skipper, a luxury SRH has not enjoyed in recent years. Hence, they could try to hire the opening batter.

3) Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes could be one of the biggest names at IPL 2023 Mini Auctions. As mentioned earlier, SRH has the highest purse and could easily sign the T20 World Cup winner.

Stokes has leadership qualities and would be a great addition to the squad. For him, as well, captaining an IPL team would increase the diversity of his experience, which would in some or the other way, help him when he captains the England Test Team.
