The former BCCI President picked Suryakumar Yadav as the first player. The right-hander has set the stage on fire with his 360-degree play and is currently the No.1 ranked T20 batter. Suryakumar of late has played a crucial role in India’s success.
The second player that Ganguly named was Rishabh Pant. The keeper batter has already sealed his place in the Indian side in three formats. The southpaw has many times bailed his side out of trouble and has single-handedly won the games for India. He’s currently out of action due to the accident he met with and is likely to be back in action after 6-7 months.
Ruturaj Gaikwad is also among the Top 6 next-generation Indian players picked by Sourav Ganguly. The right-hander has been scoring truckloads for runs in the domestic circuit but is yet to get going in international cricket. With the way he’s going, it’s likely that he will be part of the Indian setup permanently very soon.
Prithvi Shaw, who is rated as one of the best youngsters in the country is also among Ganguly’s pick. The batter is known for his aggressive batting. He has already made his India debut in all three formats and has been quite reasonable. He recently made a comeback in the team after nearly 2 years. Shaw is also among the consistent run-getters in the domestic circuit.
Within a short span of time, Shubman Gill has cemented his place in the Indian side in all three formats. The classy elegance of Gill has already made many tout him as the upcoming face of Indian cricket. The batter has scored runs consistently and it’s fair to say that he can carry the legacy of Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.
The last pick of Sourav Ganguly is Umran Malik. The fast bowler has the ability to consistently clock 150 kph and is the strike bowler for India in white-ball cricket. He’s the fastest bowler in India and if groomed well he can trouble the opposition with his pace.
