Usually, we see retired English cricketers in the County Championship. Overseas cricketers are needed by the teams to improve the strength of the side. Of course, the priority will always be the cricketers who are close to their peak. However, we also have some retired cricketers who take part in the County Championship as overseas players. 1) Dean Elgar – Essex

2) Peter Siddle – Durham

Peter Siddle is one of the retired overseas players who are playing in the County Championship 2024. It has been quite a few years since Peter Siddle retired from international cricket. Yet, the former Australian pacer is still playing in the County Championship. He has also been doing well and there is no surprise that his team is happy to have him for this season, as well.

For Australia, Siddle enjoyed a fine career. He was penetrating as a pacer with his movement and accuracy. He helped Australia win a lot of Test matches. It will be interesting to see if he takes up coaching after he retires from professional cricket.
