Team India qualified for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final after Sri Lanka’s defeat at the hands of the New Zealand cricket team in the first Test match at Hagley Oval.

Earlier, India locked horns with the Australian cricket team in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series. The first two games of the BGT series ended in favour of Team India before the third game ended in favour of the Aussies.

However, Sri Lanka lost to New Zealand in a thrilling encounter. New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by 2 wickets and have done a great favour to India as Rohit Sharma and Co have qualified for the WTC Final.

The fourth Test between India and Australia ended in a draw and irrespective of this result in the Ahmedabad Test, India have automatically qualified for the WTC Final.

Sunil Gavaskar suggests KL Rahul as the wicketkeeper for WTC Final

Earlier, Australia were the first team to qualify for the WTC Final and they did it by beating Team India in the third Test in Indore. Now that India have also qualified, they will lock horns with Australia in the final showdown.

The WTC Final between India and Australia will be held on June 7 at Kennington Oval, with June 12 set as the reserve day. Meanwhile, there is going to be a lot of team talk regarding the selection of the players.

Since the final is going to be played in English conditions, there is absolutely no doubt that some changes might be made. Meanwhile, Sunil Gavaskar came up with an important change for the WTC Final.

While speaking to Sports Tak, the former Indian cricketer suggested KL Rahul as the wicketkeeper for the WTC Final ahead of KS Bharat. As of now, KS Bharat has been the first-choice wicketkeeper for India.

He was involved in all four games of the Border Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia recently. However, it is uncertain whether or not he will be picked as the wicketkeeper-batsman for WTC Final.
