Pakistan cricket team’s performances were not up to the mark in Test cricket of late. Earlier, they surrendered at the hands of the Australian cricket team in the three-match Test series at home as they lost the series by 1-0.

After that, they hosted England for the three-match Test series but Pakistan didn’t gel together as a team as they ended up on the losing side not once but in all three games of the Test series.

Ben Stokes and Co inflicted a 3-0 whitewash on Pakistan, in what was the first-ever whitewash for Pakistan at home. It was also the first time that Pakistan lost four Tests in a row at home and PCB was under immense pressure.

PCB chief opens up on the importance of Babar Azam for Pakistan Cricket

Following Pakistan’s terrible performances in Test cricket of late, questions were raised on Babar Azam’s captaincy as the latter was the first Pakistan captain to lose four Tests in a row at home and suffer a Test series whitewash at home.

Pakistan Cricket Board saw two massive changes following the 3-0 whitewash as they sacked Ramiz Raja and Muhammad Wasim-led selection panel. Reports stated that Babar Azam could be the next one to get sacked from the captaincy post.

Meanwhile, PCB’s new chief, Najam Sethi spoke about the importance of Babar Azam for Pakistan Cricket by saying that without the captain, the Pakistan cricket team would be without its son of the coil and his remark to the reporter spread like wildfire on the internet.

Najam Sethi further added that Babar Azam is the star of the Pakistan cricket team. Meanwhile, Babar Azam is currently leading his pack in the ongoing first Test against the New Zealand cricket team in Karachi. The hosts scored 428 runs in the first innings and Babar Azam top-scored with 161 runs including 15 fours and a six.
