‘He will undoubtedly gain a lot of confidence as T20I batsman’-Former India cricketer feels that Rishabh Pant has shut few noises after his mature knock

WI vs IND 2022: Rishabh Pant played a mature inning of 33*(26) during Team India’s emphatic victory against the West Indies on Tuesday. Former Indian wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel was thrilled with Pant’s performance. The 24-year-old batsman knocked in three fours and a six, but what’s more significant is that he went the distance without getting out, to carry his side to victory.

Patel is aware of the significance of keeping a left-handed batsman in the middle order, which may be one of the reasons why the team management has decided to give Rishabh Pant the No. 4 position for this particular series. According to the 37-year-old, as he had been able to close off the game in a convincing manner, it has given him the much-needed confidence he lacked.

WI vs IND 2022: What did Parthiv Patel say about Rishabh Pant?

After the third Twenty20 international, Parthiv Patel gave the following interview to Cricbuzz, in which he discussed Rishabh Pant’s knock:

“That’s simply how Rishabh Pant plays the game, and as Ashwin pointed out when he’s at the crease, everyone in the dressing room, as well as the fans in the stands, are on the edge of their seats (laughs). Because he finished off the game and did not get out, we often speak about how much of a match-winner he is, and he will undoubtedly gain a great deal of confidence as a Twenty20 batsman as a result of his performance today.”

For the time being, Pant seems to have provided answers to a few questions that had been raised over his position in the Twenty20 International squad. However, in order to secure his position in the T20 World Cup, he will need to maintain his level of performance during the remaining games. However, he is definitely an integral part of the Indian team going forward.
