Indian captain Rohit Sharma is currently involved in the grand scheme of things for the Border Gavaskar Trophy series. Under his captaincy, Team India got off to a scintillating start to the Test series against the Aussies.

Pat Cummins and Co didn’t stand a chance while locking horns with Team India in the first Test match which took place at VCA Stadium in Nagpur. The Australian cricket team were absolutely battered and bruised at the hands of Team India in the Test opener.

The fact that the Indian cricket team batted just once goes to show the unreal dominance of their approach. Australia ran short of ideas to compete with India as they ended up losing the game by a huge margin.

Rohit Sharma and Co won the game by an innings and 132 runs. During the first game, Rohit Sharma led the batting attack by example as he chipped in with 120 runs including 16 fours and two sixes.

The 35-year-old Indian stalwart etched his name into the record books after he achieved quite a unique feat in international cricket. This is the first time in history that Team India have achieved the No.1 ranking in all formats at the same time.

Notably, all these came during Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. Thus, he became the first-ever Indian captain to pull off this magnificent feat. It is worth mentioning that Team India achieved the No.1 ranking in One-Day Internationals last month after they defeated the Black Caps by 3-0 at home.

India’s 3-0 series win over New Zealand came after they inflicted a 3-0 ODI series whitewash on Sri Lanka. Moreover, Team India will still need to get the better of Australia in the upcoming Test match at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi in order to get hold of the top spot.
