“He was never brought on to bowl again!”, Pakistani journalist raises questions on Rohit Sharma’s captaincy

After team India’s loss against Bangladesh in the first match of the ongoing 3-match ODI series between the two sides (that was played at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium), captain Rohit Sharma is being heavily critiqued. Many fans are saying that despite India’s poor batting performance, they played brilliantly in the second innings and had a really good chance to win. However, due to some captaincy mistakes by Rohit Sharma, the team was unable to make a comeback in the match. It might be true to some extent actually.

In the last few minutes of the match, team India needed just one more wicket to clinch a victory. Unfortunately, they were unable to do so and Bangladesh reached the required total. Now fans are questioning as to why Rohit Sharma did not use Washington Sundar more into today’s match. Sundar picked up 2 wickets in just 5 overs at an expense of just 17 runs. However, Rohit Sharma did not use him after that and we don’t know why.

Many might argue that it is only because of Rohit’s captaincy that we came so close to winning and we might have won it had it not been for KL Rahul‘s catch drop but it is true that Washington Sundar could be used in a much better way today.

Whatever be the case, India have lost against Bangladesh today and there is nothing we can do about it. Talking about the 3-match ODI series, Bangladesh now have a 1-0 lead in it and they need just one more victory to win it.

The second ODI will be played at the same stadium, i.e, the Sher-e-Bangla stadium on 9th December. India will have to make some major changes in their playing XI if they are to make a comeback in this series after this defeat.
