Virat Kohli has been serving as the interim captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore since the last few games now. Faf du Plessis who is having a bruised rib is not taking the field but is more than happy to bat as an Impact player.

Even in the ongoing match between RCB and KKR at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Virat Kohli led the team from the front. Batting first, Kolkata Knight Riders posted a massive total of 200/5 in their quota of 20 overs.

Jason Roy and Nitish Rana provided enough firepower for the visitors as they chipped in with vital knocks when it mattered the most. While Jason Roy scored 56 runs off 29 balls including 4 fours and 5 sixes, Nitish Rana smashed 48 off 21 balls including 3 fours and 4 sixes.

In response to KKR’s target, RCB got off to a spectacular start in the form of Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli. The duo added 31 runs for the opening wicket before Suyash Sharma got rid of Faf du Plessis in the second ball of the third over.

However, Virat Kohli went about his business and scored a terrific half-century, which is also his fifth fifty in eight innings this season. The right-handed batter looked pretty comfortable with the bat as he composed his innings with the help of six boundaries.

Needless to say, he didn’t last long after scoring a fifty as he fell prey to Andre Russell’s bowling in the first ball of the 13th over of the game.
