In a recent Punjabi interview, Shubman Gill talked a lot about his career and his aspirations. The opening batter also spoke about legends such as MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. Here, we take a look as Shubman Gill praises the captaincy of Virat Kohli in a recent interview.
“Best captain I played under”
In the interview, Gill was asked the question of who is the best captain whom he has played under. Shubman Gill said it was Virat amongst the other options that included the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Hardik Pandya.
Shubman Gill has already cemented his spot in the Test and the ODI Team although he must take a few more steps to merit a spot in the playing XI. He recently got selected to the T20I squad and will be looking to leave an impact in the shortest format, as well.

Team India will need Shubman Gill to follow in the footsteps of Virat Kohli
Team India’s pattern has been to find a batting mainstay around whom the entire squad can play. In the past, it was Sachin Tendulkar, then it was MS Dhoni in the middle-order and in the last one decade, of course, it has been Virat Kohli. With Virat entering the final stage of his career, a youngster has to step up. At the moment, it looks like Shubman Gill has all the capability to do that.
Gill has had issues at the start of his career. However, he is slowly correcting most of them. In IPL 2022, he also showed that he can do well in the T20 format. With this show, he also earned a spot in the T20 squad. It is important that Gill does well in all the formats for the men in blue. Yes, it might be a distant thing but seeing the transition process go wrong recently, the management will also want to groom Gill as the future skipper of the Indian Team.
