The KKR mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy has opened up about the time when he had tested COVID positive in the middle of the first leg of the IPL and how he had to cope with some of the vile remarks made on social media about his illness.
IPL had to be postponed after Varun Chakravarthy and some other players tested positive midway through the tournament. Some fans were furious about it after the news broke out that Varun had gone to the hospital for a scan and he might have contracted the virus there.
But, later it got clarified that some of the hospitals were designated for the players to go and have a scan, if needed, in a secure environment. However, people were too quick to accuse Varun Chakravarthy and KKR. There were some really bad remarks thrown around for the player and the team.
KKR uploaded a video today featuring Varun Chakravarthy and other KKR players
In a video uploaded by KKR on Twitter, Varun said that some people were even wishing death on him, and it was really tough to go through that phase. That video features Varun’s KKR teammates as well, who insisted that people need to be kind on social media and should always think about what kind of impact their comments can leave on others.
In a world where you can be anything, be kind 💜

Abhishek Nayar, who is one of the assistant coaches at KKR, said that Varun is the kind of person who is very intense in general and takes everything very seriously. So for him, to take all those vile remarks from people on social media was not easy at all, particularly when he was fighting an illness as dangerous as COVID.
Dinesh Karthik, the former KKR skipper, also said that people should understand they never know who is in what mental state. So, to make comments about someone without any empathy is not good at all.
