Daniel Jarvis has been banned for life at the Headingley Cricket Stadium. He will also have to pay a fine. On Day 3 of the ongoing Test series, Jarvis yet again invaded the pitch after a similar act at the Lord’s game. Twitter, though, had mixed reactions as pitch-invader Jarvo gets banned.
Jarvo invaded the pitch twice in this series
The series currently stands at 1-1 after England drew level at Leeds with a convincing victory by an innings and 76 runs. India put on a disappointing show after doing extremely well in the previous encounter. The focus would now shift to the Oval on September 2nd. Amidst the exhilarating proceedings, Daniel Jarvis has invaded the pitch on two occasions in the series.
At the Lord’s, the prankster came on to the pitch dressed as an Indian fielder. He had the number 69 printed on his back. Jarvo tried to convince the security that he was an Indian fielder. He was pulled out of the park though.
On Day 3 of the Leeds test, Jarvo came on the field again, after Rohit Sharma’s wicket fell. This time, he was dressed as an Indian batsman. He tried convincing that he was India’s No.4 but was pulled out again.
Pitch-invader Jarvo gets banned at Headingley
Though many saw the funny side of it, the Yorkshire County Cricket Club has taken the matter seriously. On charges of breaching security, a spokesperson confirmed, “Yes, Daniel Jarvis will be banned from Headingley for life. We will also be imposing a financial penalty.”
The spokesperson, when asked if any measures would be put in place to control such incidents in future, said, “As on previous days, there will be stewards present around there to stop anyone that attempts to get on.” Twitter had mixed reactions to Jarvo receiving his ban.
