Fans on Twitter reacted gave mixed reactions after five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians (MI) named former South African wicketkeeper Mark Boucher as their head coach for the upcoming IPL 2023.
Mumbai Indians rope in Mark Boucher as their new head coach
Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians on Friday (16th September) announced that Mark Boucher will be the new head coach for the IPL 2023. The former South African player will take over the reins from Mahela Jayawardene, who was given the role at the global level by the franchise.
Boucher is currently working as a head coach of the South African team and will continue his job till the end of the T20 World Cup 2022. He did a great job as a leader as under him team won 11 Tests, 12 ODIs and 23 T20Is. He would want to end his tenure as high by guiding his team to the cup victory.
Boucher would be hoping to add more trophies to MI’s cabinet. The five-time champions didn’t have a great season last year as they ended last on the points table. The former Proteas keeper-batter would have to play a crucial role to help MI make a staggering comeback in the IPL 2023.
Boucher has the experience of coaching in IPL as he was a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2016 as a keeping coach. He also played in the league for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Twitterati reacts after Mumbai Indians appoint Mark Boucher as the new head coach
As Mumbai Indians made the development public, fans on Twitter reacted differently to it. Some were happy with Boucher’s appointment whereas a few lashed out at him for leaving the national team for IPL.
That's a good move! Mark has been good with SA team, they have become considerably good side now. I reckon this move brings good results for MI.

Work on Rohit's batting head coach @markb46 in coming IPL season .
Mahela has destroyed his batting so much in last 6 IPL seasons.
Please ask Rohit to play consistently with the bat and give us season of 500+ runs .@ImRo45 @mipaltanAdvertisement— kunwar (@KunwarP45) September 16, 2022

I don't know if it's good choice or bad choice, Boucher isn't fit for IPL coaches even though South Africa playing well in T20 under him. Mathew Hayden should have been perfect choice for Mumbai Indians as coach.
