The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League got underway yesterday evening with a match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. KKR beat CSK by six wickets, with Umesh Yadav returning to form and winning the Man of the Match award for his brilliant spell of 2/20.
During the match between the Chennai Super Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2022, Ajinkya Rahane also made a comeback and top-scored for the Kolkata-based franchise with a 44-run knock at the top. Meanwhile, for CSK, MS Dhoni scored his first fifty in a long time and helped the team post a 131-run score on the board.
Speaking to the host broadcasters after the match, Man of the Match Umesh Yadav said:
“Wickets in the powerplay is important and the Team’s role is what I carried out today. Usually I’ve been focusing on my rhythm and I’m thankful to my trainers for keeping me in shape.”
Today, on the second day of the new Indian Premier League season, left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav returned to form and scalped three crucial wickets on his debut for the Delhi Capitals. Playing against the Mumbai Indians team, Yadav bagged the crucial wickets of Rohit Sharma, Anmolpreet Singh and Kieron Pollard.
