New Zealand’s tour of Pakistan comprises two Tests and three ODIs. Earlier, the two-match Test series between both teams ended in a tie. Pakistan ran through a disastrous performance with regards to Test cricket in 2022.

They finished the calendar year with zero win for the first time in their history. Earlier, Pakistan lost to Australia and England in the Test series as they got humiliated in their own backyard.

Pakistan’s appalling performance forced the board to take some harsh calls. As a result, they sacked Ramiz Raja from the chairman’s post and also went on to sack Muhammad Wasim-led selection panel. PCB appointed Najam Sethi as the new chairman as new changes took place at Pakistan cricket.

Meanwhile, Pakistan cricket team are locking horns with the England cricket team in the first of the three-match ODI series, which is being played at National Stadium, Karachi.

Shan Masood not part of the playing XI for first ODI

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam won the toss and invited the Kane Williamson-led New Zealand cricket team to bat first. Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board named Shan Masood as the vice-captain for the ODI series.

Surprisingly, the vice-captain himself is not part of the playing XI for the ODI series opener against the New Zealand cricket team. Upon seeing Shan Masood’s name missing from the playing XI, netizens took to social media and chipped in with interesting reactions.

Talking about the game, Pakistan got off to a good start in the form of Naseem Shah as the latter got rid of dangerous Devon Conway for a first-ball duck.

After that, Mohammad Wasim Jr made a breakthrough for Pakistan as he dismissed Finn Allen for 29 (27). New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson who was just started to get settled at the crease was outsmarted by Usama Mir in the second ball of the 15th over.

Kane Williamson departed after scoring 26 off 39. At the time of writing this article, New Zealand have posted 69/3 in 14.2 overs.
