Team India sealed the second T20I with a win by seven wickets. With this, India registered yet another series victory. Although India looked off-colour in a few phases in the second T20I, the likes of Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson played brilliantly to bring India back into the game. Sanju Samson produces terrific cameo
After his performance on the tour of Sri Lanka in 2021, many felt that Sanju Samson will have to wait long for his next chance. However, he was selected for the Sri Lanka series. With Suryakumar Yadav and Ruturaj Gaikwad getting injured, it was certain that Sanju would get a chance in the playing XI. In the first game, the Kerala cricketer did not get a chance but in the second encounter, he got ample scope for a contribution.
Despite the slow start, Sanju did brilliantly at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium. Eventually, it took a brilliant catch for Sanju to be dismissed at 39 runs from 25 balls. His knock included two boundaries and three huge sixes. Apart from doing well for himself, Sanju also helped India cruise to a victory.
Twitter reacts to the Kerala batter’s knock
Considering the circumstances in which he came back to Team India, it was a now-or-never situation for Samson. He had to do well to keep his place in the team. Although that is not still assured, the Rajasthan Royals skipper has certainly done well for himself with that knock in the second game. He happens to be one of India’s best players of spin and if Sanju can do well in the third T20I, as well, he could cement his place for the next series.
