Dinesh Karthik’s return to the Indian squad has been like something out of a dream ever since it happened. The experienced wicketkeeper worked as a pundit up until only a year ago and was not involved in any way with the national setup.
Many people believed that Karthik had already completed his career with the Men in Blue and had played his last game. ‘DK,’ on the other hand, had different intentions.
The 37-year-old maintained putting in the hard work and continued to practice the art of finishing. After the IPL 2021 season, the Kolkata Knight Riders released him, and he was in dire need of a club that would give him the opportunity to show off his finishing talents.
At this point, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pounced to acquire the seasoned player at the Indian Premier League 2022 auction. Because Karthik wasn’t participating in regular cricket, quite a few people’s eyes were aroused. However, the management of the RCB squad believed in him as their finisher, and it paid off as he earned a perfect IPL.

DK obtained a call-up into the Indian Twenty20 International squad for the series against South Africa after scoring 330 runs in 16 matches at an exceptional strike rate of 183.33. Because of his outstanding play, Karthik has been chosen to compete in the Twenty20 World Cup.
On their official Twitter account, RCB made the following announcement on Karthik’s selection for the renowned tournament:
“We couldn’t be more happy for you, @DineshKarthik! Special comeback from a special player. #PlayBold #TeamIndia #WeAreChallengers”
