Suresh Raina is not going to participate in IPL 2022 as a player. The left-handed batter played for the Chennai Super Kings last year and won the tournament. However, none of the franchises bid for him this year as Raina went unsold for the first time in his career.
After the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, multiple players became unavailable for the season. So the fans expected that one of the franchises would sign Raina as a replacement. But the same has not happened yet.
So Star Sports roped Raina in as a commentator for the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. Raina will make his debut as a Hindi commentator in IPL 2022. Ahead of the mega IPL season, Raina addressed a press conference, where he named five players to watch out for in this tournament.
Raina named Chennai Super Kings stars Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja along with the most expensive buy of the auction Ishan Kishan, Kolkata Knight Riders team’s new captain Shreyas Iyer and Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant as the five players to watch out for this season.

Deep Dasgupta felt 1 or 2 franchises would bid for Suresh Raina at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction
Suresh Raina entered the IPL 2022 Auction with a base price of INR 2 crore but remained unsold. Many fans were shocked to see Raina go unsold because he earned the nickname of Mr. IPL with his stupendous performances in the league. He was the backbone of the Chennai Super Kings top-order. Here’s what former Indian cricket team player-turned commentator Deep Dasgupta said about Raina:
“I was a little surprised because there are 10 teams and when you have someone like Raina, who has a lot of experience. Maybe he has another year or two left. I thought one or two franchises might go for Raina because of his experience.”
