Shivam Dube has been a spectacular performer for Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. The left-handed batsman seems to have really understood his role and has been enjoying batting at No.4 for CSK this season.
What really made his batting so impressive is the fact that he was able to hit sixes with relative ease. His spectacular hitting ability has helped the team escalate the scoring rate as well.
Shivam Dube’s form is vital for CSK’s chances going forward in the crucial stages of the season. He has led the middle-order unit by example and stood stall against the opposition teams when it mattered the most.
Even when other batters failed to carry the batting unit, Shivam Dube rose to the occasion and delivered the goods for the team. He scored 363 runs at an average of 40.33 at a strike rate of 157.14.
Shivam Dube didn’t get freedom to play his natural game for other teams: Sunil Gavaskar
On top of that, Shivam Dube scored 228 runs through boundaries (30 sixes and 12 fours). It is worth mentioning that CSK superbly maximized his strength. It is good to see Shivam Dube being absolutely brutal in the middle phase.
Meanwhile, Indian cricket commentator, Sunil Gavaskar opened up on Shivam Dube’s resurgence for CSK in the middle-order batting unit. In the wake of Dube’s excellence, Sunil Gavaskar reserved the highest respect for the southpaw.
Sunil Gavaskar is of the notion that MS Dhoni’s captaincy played a big part in Shivam Dube’s improvement as a cricketer. He added that Shivam Dube has played for other franchises, but didn’t really get the freedom or encouragement to go about his business naturally.
The former Indian cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar wanted to emphasize that MS Dhoni’s captaincy that made a big difference in Shivam Dube’s overall turnaround as a cricketer.
