Asked to bat first, although Ireland lost Paul Stirling (14) early, skipper Andrew Balbirnie (62) and Lorcan Tucker (34) took English bowlers to cleaners and smashed them all over the park for their 82 runs partnership.

However, after their wicket, Ireland lost a few quick wickets and was left tottering at 132/5. But a few handy contributions from Curtis Campher (18) and Gareth Delany (14*) pushed them to a total of 157 runs on the board. For England, both Mark Wood and Liam Livingstone bagged three wickets.

Chasing the target, England looked in deep trouble as they lost both their openers Jos Buttler (0) and Alex Hales (7) early. Dawid Malan (35) held the one end but wickets kept falling at the other as Ireland reduced the opposition to 86/5.

Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone then tried to steady the English innings as rain played the spoilsport and forced players to walk back to the dressing room with the scorecard reading 105/5. As a result, England fell short of 5 runs as per DLS with the par score being 110 and Ireland emerged victorious.
