Shakib-Al-Hasan picked his all-time ODI eleven and in the slew of legends picked up by him, he left out the likes of two of India’s best batsmen, namely Rohit Sharma and Sourav Ganguly.
Though there weren’t many surprises, but a few players were plucked out of their natural positions and used in patches where the batting order would be more star-studded instead of being balanced.
The dream ODI team of Shakib
He picked Sachin Tendulkar and Saeed Anwar to open the batting, as the duo were downright menacing in their own capacity. Anwar had the highest individual score in ODI for quite some time, while Sachin is the highest international run-getter.
The Bangladesh all-rounder wanted Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli to follow suit. However, the positions he picked for both of them were a bit unusual given the fact that Gayle opens the batting while Kohli comes out at number three.
One of the greatest all-rounders of all time, Jacques Kallis found himself slotted at the number five position which is way out of his usual batting capacity while MS Dhoni, the skipper of the side, was destined to be at number six.
Shakib-al-Hasan placed himself in the number seven spot to connect the batters and the bowlers, as he is the number one all-rounder in the world in the current ratings.
The bowlers picked up by Shakib featured four of the world’s best icons of the discipline, with the names being Shane Warne, Muttiah Muralitharan, Wasim Akram and Glenn McGrath. This quartet of bowlers shares 1700 ODI wickets amongst them.

Shakib-Al-Hasan will be back to the IPL after BCB gave him the NOC
Shakib will be a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders team that will resume their IPL campaign with a tie against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The all-rounder has so far been a part of three matches and hasn’t really impressed much barring his decent display in the season opener.
His Bangladeshi teammate, Mustafizur Rahman, will also be a part of the contest for the Rajasthan Royals. After the England series was postponed, BCB decided to impart the NOC to the two cricketers to be a part of the IPL.
