Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne is sending a strong message to the selectors related to his selection in the ICC World Cup 2023. Cricket Australia recently named a 15-member squad for the main event in India and surprisingly Labuschagne was the notable miss from the team.
However, Marnus Labuschagne has now posed a great argument to Australian selectors with his performances. The batter came in as a replacement player in the series after the main players were injured. He didn’t play in the first game but was lucky as he got the opportunity to play.
Marnus Labuschagne came in as concussion substitute for Cameron Green in the game and he played an innings that the whole team couldn’t. Australia were tottering and lost quick wickets. He stepped up and scored 80 turns to take his team to glory.
If this was not enough, he then stepped up and smashed a blistering century in the second game. Marnus Labuschagne played a sensational innings and scored 124 runs. He won Man of the Match in both the games and has taken the series by storm.
With the way he’s performing, Australian selectors would be under real pressure. Marnus Labuschagne so far has played 32 ODIs and has scored 1051 runs at an average of 37.54. Apart from this he also has scored 2 centuries and 7 half-centuries in this format.
