Former Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir recently named Rohit Sharma as the only batter and captain who gave him sleepless nights and headaches as a skipper. Gambhir led the Kolkata-based franchise from 2011 to 2017 before returning to the Delhi Capitals.
The left-handed batter had a very successful stint as the KKR captain. He guided the franchise to their first two IPL championships in 2012 and 2014. Many fans reckon him as one of the best captains in the Indian Premier League history.
While Gambhir has retired now, he is all set to play the mentor’s role for the new Lucknow Super Giants team in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. In an interview with Star Sports, Gambhir heaped praise on Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma and said:
“Rohit Sharma is the only batsman who has given me sleepless nights and Rohit Sharma is the only captain who has given headaches to me in my career.”
Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma’s teams will go head-to-head in IPL 2022 twice
Both Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians are in the same group of IPL 2022. The organizers placed them in the ‘A’ group of the league stage. The Mumbai-based franchise had the first seeding, whereas the Super Giants had the ninth seeding. Both franchises will square off for the first time in IPL 2022 later this year.
A few days ago, the BCCI released the schedule for the entire league stage of IPL 2022. The Mumbai Indians are going to play their first match against the Delhi Capitals in a rematch of IPL 2020 Final, whereas the Lucknow Super Giants will open their campaign against the Gujarat Titans.
As far as the matches between MI and LSG are concerned, the first meeting will happen on April 16 at the Brabourne Stadium, whereas the second game will happen on April 24 at the Wankhede Stadium.
