India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant recently met with an accident during the wee hours of December 30 while he was heading to his hometown Roorkee in Uttarakhand from Delhi.
He inadvertently rammed into one of the divider linings on the Delhi-Dehradun highway. The unexpected accident set his car ablaze and fortunately, Pant jumped off his burning car and got away with danger.
Rishabh Pant initially sought treatment from a nearby local hospital before being shifted to the Max hospital for further medical assistance. The doctors have confirmed that Rishabh Pant is out of danger as he neither got burns nor any fractures in his body.
However, he sustained injuries on his body (forehead, eye and his back) and it would certainly take some time for him to get back on track. As per the latest update, he has headed to Mumbai for surgery as he sustained a ligament tear on his knee.
Moreover, he was also inspected by the doctors upon his arrival at Mumbai hospital. It was learnt that the young wicketkeeper-batsman has been in stable condition.
Rishabh Pant might return during the WTC final as per reports
Meanwhile, according to The Indian Express, Rishabh Pant might return to action during the World Test Championship final. For the uninitiated, the World Test Championship 2023 Final will be hosted by The Oval in June 2023.
There are over five months of time left for the WTC final showdown and Rishabh Pant has plenty of time to recover from the injuries. Rishabh Pant’s return would be a massive boost to Team India’s chances in the final.
Notably, Rishabh Pant has been in scintillating form in the longest format of the game. The aggressive wicketkeeper-batsman recently scored 45 and 93 in the first and second innings of the Dhaka Test against the Bangladesh cricket team.
Here’s how Twitterati reacted:
Rishabh shouldn't be rushed from his recovery, just like it happened with Bumrah.

We are already qualified because third test of australia SA will most likely end in draw or win for Aus. 2-2 is enough for qualification

He will be lucky if he plays the World Cup. WTC final is too soon. The ligament tear is a big injury. Plus those burns and skin injury.
