The first day of the first Test between India and Bangladesh came to a close at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram. Both teams were involved in a gruelling contest on the first day.
India and Bangladesh had their fair share of moments during the passage of the play. On the first day’s play, Team India finished with 278/6 in 90 overs. Cheteshwar Pujara top-scored with 90 runs including 11 fours.
On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 82 runs with the help of 10 boundaries. As far as Bangladesh are concerned, they largely benefitted from Taijul Islam who took three wickets to his name.
Rishabh Pant makes it easy for non-strikers with his attacking game: Cheteshwar Pujara
Cheteshwar Pujara was batting so well and was en route to scoring a brilliant century but Taijul Islam was smart enough to deceive the right-handed batsman in the first place.
Taijul made a mess of the batsman’s stump and Pujara made his way back to the dressing room after missing his well-deserving century by 10 runs. Meanwhile, Pujara reserved the highest respect for Rishabh Pant after the first day’s play.
Pujara highlighted that Rishabh Pant makes it quite easier for the non-strikers with his attacking style of play. Pant unleashed his aggressive instinct during Day 1 where he was playing superbly well by smashing sixes and fours at will.
The southpaw hit a flurry of six boundaries and a couple of sixes before he was dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz on 46. Had he been a bit extra careful in terms of his shot selection, he would have scored more runs on the day.
Meanwhile, Team India have posted 278 for the loss of six wickets in 90 overs. Shreyas Iyer was the other batsman who also played pretty well on Day 1. He chipped in with an unbeaten 82 runs with the help of 10 boundaries.

That's why the value of Pant's 46 runs is like 146. Only people who watched his innings live today would agree, including Pujara

When will Pujara atleast bat with 50SR. Today's Test cricket demands scoring. Pujara is "BLOCKER" that's why he got out. Pujara says Pant takes out the pressure but he shd know he puts pressure on non striker.
